Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, the Hon. Audley Shaw, has identified the cannabis industry as part of the solution for the Jamaican economy.

Addressing the 3^rd Annual CanEx  Jamaica Global B2B Cannabis Conference and Expo in Montego Bay on Friday,  September 28, Minister Shaw told conference goers that as the Minister responsible for building the industry “I have engaged all stakeholders in our society,” and sent the strong message: “GANJA IS NOT THE PROBLEM, IT IS Part of Jamaica’s Solution”.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon.  Audley Shaw, has congratulated the winners in this year’s Praedial Larceny Prevention Essay and Poster Competition, even as he challenged young people to shun the practice of illegally benefitting from the effort and hard work of others.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Hon. J.C. Hutchinson, has described the emerging bamboo industry as a lucrative endeavour for the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) sector.

The Minister was addressing the International Bamboo and Rattan Congress in Beijing, China, on June 25.

Jamaica will host the 11th Annual Caribbean Plant Health Directors (CPHD) Forum and the 6th Meeting of the CARICOM Plant Health Directors at the Iberostar Hotel & Suites in Montego Bay, St. James, July 16-19.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon Audley Shaw, will be the main presenter at the opening ceremony of the forum on July 16 under the theme ‘Safeguarding Plant Health, Protecting the Environment’.

The forum, which is being held in Jamaica for the first time, will have participants from over 26 member countries in attendance.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Hon Audley Shaw, has emphasized the importance of employees’ engagement in the workplace in order to increase productivity in the workforce.

Speaking at the Jamaica Employers’ Federation’s (JEF) 36th annual Business and Workplace Convention and Expo, held at Moon Palace Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios on June 8, Minister Shaw said that the country’s prosperity depends on not just the number of persons who are employed but their level of productivity.

Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw, is reiterating the need for the preservation of our environment, stating that with the explosion of plastics not only in Jamaica but around the world our oceans and environments are being threatened daily.

He noted that it is the responsibility of every Jamaican to become responsible citizens and, make every effort to preserve what we have in our beautiful country.

Minister Shaw met with representatives from the Canadian Government and the Province of Ontario as well as numerous companies and investors who shared their commitment to investing in the Jamaican Cannabis Industry.
